For a local newspaper, The Charleston Chronicle, I created this illustrative painting by hand to pay tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. Day (MLK Day) and his birthday. The ill is seperated into 3 tiers: (1) top portrait of King with his mother and wife in representation or the appearance of happier times, (2) King and supporting civil rights' activists marching in solidarity to be recognized as equal citizens of America, and (3) New civil rights' activists currently being created and marching in solidarity to be recognized as equal citizens of the supposedly "post-racist" America. The whole piece starts with King and continues with "We Shall Overcome"
For this project, I am promoting the image as well as the sale of the image by creating promotional samples for Instagram and Facebook (which were also posted across platform on Tumblr and Twitter). All promo samples are powerful portions of the larger image and can stand alone but provide a link to view the larger image.
